About Todd

Todd Hertzberg was born in a small town in Northern Illinois to a father and mother who were both first generation Americans.  The early years of his life was grounded in hard work and entrepreneurship as his parents operated a small business at a state park in Illinois.

Long hours were expected of both Todd and his older brother. Before they had even reached their teen years they could be found at the family’s camp store bagging ice, bundling firewood and stocking shelves seven days a week from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

But with the long hours also came earnings, and Todd was able to put himself through Wheaton College, (B.A. Economics ‘80) Chicago Kent College of Law (Juris Doctor ’83)  and the University of Florida (Masters of Tax Law ’83).

The home that Hertzberg grew up in was not particularly religious. However, Todd heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time as a teenager through the ministry of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at his public high school.  As a teenager, he gave his life to Jesus for salvation from his sins.  Today, Todd is a member of Fayetteville’s University Baptist Church and continues to strive to walk with Jesus.

After graduation from law school, Todd relocated to Clearwater, Florida where he was admitted to the bar and opened a law practice. In all, Hertzberg lived on the West Coast of Florida for twenty years before moving to Fayetteville in 2005. During this time in Florida, Hertzberg was the director of his church’s homeless ministry for 13 years and became intimately aware of the unique problems of the homeless.

It was during the Florida years that Todd met and married his wife (divorced in 2009) and had four amazing children, and currently has two grandchildren.

Todd’s oldest daughter is Holly Hertzberg who was elected to the Fayetteville City Council in 2020, at age 25, perhaps making her the youngest woman ever elected to that post.  Todd’s second daughter, Melissa, attended Fayetteville public schools and works for Walmart corporate, living in Siloam Springs. Hertzberg’s oldest son, Jesse and daughter-in-law Cori, and their two children, recently relocated from Northwest Arkansas to Utah to help plant a new evangelical church in that area.   Todd’s youngest son Jack lives in southern Brazil and teaches English as a second language to Brazilians. Todd is extremely proud of each of his children and his daughter-in-law.

Hertzberg opened his Arkansas law practice in 2008 which has been located in Fayetteville since that time.  The practice serves consumers who find themselves in the need to seek bankruptcy protection from their creditors. Over the years Hertzberg assisted in saving many clients’ homes from foreclosure, as well as protecting their paychecks from crushing garnishments. For approximately 10 years, he was also an adjunct professor of law at the University of Arkansas’ student legal clinic.

Todd is an active participant in the Senior Olympics in track and field, competing in the discus throw and several running events. Recently, Hertzberg was certified as a track and field official by the USATF and has officiated several Razorback track and field, and cross county events. Like so many in this city, Todd is an avid Razorback fan.
